Freevo is a media platform that brings together various applications for video recording and playback. Under its open format, the user can fully customize Freevo to suit their media viewing needs. Because Freevo is on an open platform, users can create plugins that do things TiVo and other PVRs cannot... Its main feature is its ability to schedule and record television broadcasts.

From O'Reilly Network, "Mind Hacks is a collection of probes into the moment-by-moment works of the brain. Using cognitive neuroscience, these experiments, tricks, and tips related to vision, motor skills, attention, cognition, subliminal perception, and more throw light on how the human brain works. Each "hack" examines specific operations of the brain. By seeing how the brain responds, we pick up clues about the architecture and design of the brain, learning a little bit more about how the brain is put together."

This just in... from Creative Commons chairman Lawrence Lessig. He released his new book, Free Culture today, both online, a licensed downloadable version and in stores. The book covers the current state of copyright law and what it means to our culture and society. Give it a look, and if you like what you see, ordering online will contribute a small percentage to Creative Commons.
UPDATE: "Free Culture" popup audiobook UPDATE2: Business 2.0 article, Giving It Away (for Fun and Profit). Thursday, March 11, 2004 - 10:28 PM
This comes from GrepLaw, a production of the Berkman Center for Internet & Society. In the latest issue of Wired, there is an excerpt from Lessig's new book, Free Culture. You want to help build a truly open network that values freedom of communication and doesn't treat the individual as just another pair of eyeballs. You like the idea of open-source software. Well...just found this..Open Instant Messaging, instant messages are similar to email because they consist of text that you type back and forth. However, unlike email, responces are in seconds. A shinning example is PSI - an awesome client for the Jabber network.
