Open Intellect Project Gutenberg is the Internet's oldest producer of free electronic books (eBooks or etexts). Most of the Project Gutenberg eBooks are older literary works that are in the public domain in the United States. All may be freely downloaded and read, and redistributed for non-commercial use. The Radio Gutenberg Subproject makes audio eBooks available for some of the same great literature available in plain text.

Creative Stimulus On April 23, students at Swarthmore College will launch a new international student organization, the International Movement for Free Culture, dedicated to what it calls a "bottom-up, participatory structure to society and culture." The new group will leverage the power of students at colleges and universities around to the world and promises to be a leading voice for copyright reform, online rights, free and open-source software, and threats to the free flow of information.

Open Intellect One of the most concrete proposals appearing on the Augmented Social Networks list is a new proposal by Dr. Andrius Kulikauskas and team, calling for Effective Use of Marginal Internet Access. A collaborative effort by an enlightened self-interest group of activist individuals floated an open draft for the Soros Open Society Institute's Social Software Development grant program, whose announcement this summer spread like wildfire through the open development community.
