UPDATED What is Enlightenment? magazine has a section and article in their new issue on Collective Intelligence, "discovering that wholes are far more than the sum of their parts. When individuals unite in a shared intention, something mysterious comes into being¬ówith capacities and intelligences that far transcend those of the individuals involved." It relays ideas of complexity to what Tom Atlee calls Co-Intelligence and much more, Flemming Funch, better know as Ming the Mechanic has an article about it too.

Without placing judgement on the merits or issues that this film invokes, we present the film's synopsis. Combined with a host of links that will hopefully help broaden and focus the topics and concepts that this film is tackling. The power of the mind is enormous and to quote Margaret Mead (1935), "If we are to achieve a richer culture, rich in contrasting values, we must recognize the whole gamut of human potentialities, and so weave a less arbitrary social fabric, one in which each diverse human gift will find a fitting place."

You want to help build a truly open network that values freedom of communication and doesn't treat the individual as just another pair of eyeballs. You like the idea of open-source software. Well...just found this..Open Instant Messaging, instant messages are similar to email because they consist of text that you type back and forth. However, unlike email, responces are in seconds. A shinning example is PSI - an awesome client for the Jabber network.

Open Law. While the Internet enables faster, more efficient communication, it also introduces an unparalleled level of transparency, or openness, to many traditionally closed processes. Can we balance the benefits of this new openness with its drawbacks?Open Governance. What is open Internet governance? Internet users have criticized attempts by traditional governing bodies to regulate the Internet, yet even in the absence of official government action the Internet is governed¬óboth by the social norms of Internet users and through its technical architecture, the code that determines how users navigate the space. Given its specific properties, can Internet governance be carried out openly and democratically, with the transparency often demanded of traditional governments?
